Abstract/Description: The Ebenezer Chapel Book contains music unique to the Independent Church (1797-1866) and the First Congregational Church (1866- ) of Ebensburg, Pennsylvania. Compiled by W. R. Davis, Archivist & Historian of the Church. -- Part 1 is an adaptation for modern singing of about twenty hymns from the James James Lining-out Book. -- Part 2 is a set of twelve hymns from a collection of manuscripts given to Mr. Davis' mother after WWII. From the titles and first lines he was able to identify and reconstruct the hymns as he thought the composer intended them. -- Part 3 consists of selections from leuan Gwyllt's 1859 Llyfr Tonau Cynulleidfaol. -- Part 4 includes arrangements of some of the un-harmonized tunes to permit them to be performed by keyboard and a solo instrument like the violin or flute.
